Well I just picjed thi up and I love it. I got it from orig owner, it had been stored in a holster for years. There are no pit spots but lots of bluing wear. It works great. It is a 22 magnum. The grips are bone and also is in original condition and has not had the saftey mod done to it. Check it out.

Love the grips.
Didnt know they were made in just .22mag,
and engraved on the frame as well.
My single six has the 2 cylinders, (reg and mag)
If you go to Rugers website,
click in the customer service tab, to find out when it was made
by using serial number.

I have one with wood grips but I like the horn ones better. What is the safety modification that was or could be done to the old model single six, mine has a pin that comes out and locks the trigger in the first two positions and releases in full #### position. Is that the mod or was there something else?

There was a firing pin block mod. It was suggested that you carry the ruger with the hammer down on an empty chamber. That way there would be no AD. Ruger will still do the mod on the old maodels at no charge and return the orig parts to you. Collector wise keep it as is.

Very nice and as Leadslinger mentioned, I love the grips:). Nice to see some of those oldies come out and I picked up a similar 'goodie' a short while ago. An old model single six, mint, with a flat loading gate, and a four digit serial # 9### which indicates it was manufactured between 1954-55.

I also have an old model Blackhawk, Flattop in 44Mag that has Ruger factory Staghorn grips but they're not as nice as the ones on your single six. Serial #23###, made between 1950-61.

Last, and I hope to eventually purchase it:D, another old model Blackhawk in 30 M1 Carbine, that I have the loan of for an unlimited length of time. Four digit serial # 6###, made between 1970-71.

Bobo you seem to know about these guns, mine is in for repairs and the gunsmith thinks it needs a new cylinder and the register pin that locks the cylinder in place for firing. What are the chances of getting parts for these old model (1971) guns....thanks

The best pace is check the ruger we site, snap shots in quebec is there repair depot here in Canada. They will have the parts needed and also you can check out Brownells in the states.
