Our club is looking into hosting 3-Gun events. It has been decreed that we must abide by the rules of some governing body for insurance purposes.

Some of the people expressing interest are not IPSC/IDPA trained and qualified. What are clubs in other areas doing re: standards of training and whose auspice are they shooting under?

We shoot under the auspices of our club.

No "qualifications" required, other than the ability to follow the four safety rules.

For ease of use, scoring and class system the mighty peace 3gun rules as posted by stevo are awesome.... Idpa style scoring and penalties are easy to score and easy to add making it as it should be a fun day for all

You could host your own safety course the weekend before the match, for anyone who doesn't already have a credential from another league.

Charge a small fee, and make it last a few hours. Get some other experienced 3-gunners to help you.

You don't need to spend three days, and charge $300, for your safety course.
Just make sure everyone knows the range commands, keeps their muzzles down-range, and doesn't shoot themselves in the foot.

WRAS uses rules from international 3 gun and IPSC. Very simple common sense rules. In the spring we hold a shooter orientation to get the membership up to speed and explain the rules to new shooters. We also have an abbreviated version we do for walk on shooters. Send me a PM if you like or check our webpage @ www.wrasalberta.com

I really think this is the best idea. It keeps everything structured and fair for all the shooters. Any one can do "spray & pray"but it shows No level of control or accuracy.

3-Gun Nation has a set of rules that you can download. They are widely regarded as the "standard" in the US as far as 3-Gun is concerned. IDPA and IPSC do not have a 3-Gun division. Most leagues use a combination or derivitive of existing rule formats. 3-Gun Nation is the largest. CHAS, WRAS, and Peace River are the three largest in Alberta and each have thier own rules that have been developed by the leagues and are accepted by the range or society they belong to.
