Heard a rumour recently that one of the companies that manufactures reproduction Winchesters will introduce a reproduction Winchester Model 1886 in .50-110 calibre.

Has anyone else heard this rumour?

I just hope they will not have the lawyer's tang safety...

You know they will!

Seriously, that thing is not that bad. I've got 3 of the Miroku Repro Winchester Model 95's now. They've all got it of course and to me it's a non-issue.

Now if I lived in the USA, I'd likely take advantage of the services of Doug Turnbull and get that modified. He does it for a very reasonable price.

Both Chiappa and Pedersoli have announced that they will be making 1886 reproductions, but this is the first I've heard that 50-110 will be one of the calibers made. Chiappa plans to make one in 444 Marlin also, according to their website.
I can't imagine that either one of them will have a tang safety, none of the Italian 1892's have them

Would not mind having an extra light version in .50-110.Most likely the long 26 inch barrel version will be the one reproduced.

Just forget where I saw it but I did see .50-110 brass listed somewhere.

Had a look at the Chiappa web site. They list a 26 inch rifle and 22 inch carbine version of the Winchester Model 1886.At present it is listed in .45-70 and 444 Marlin. The site states that it will be available in .45-90 and other calibres.

I read about it but WTF??? 3 shot plug for the magazine??? Do they hunt ducks with those???

That is certainly strange wording, but honestly I've never carried more than one or two in the magazine of my 71 Win.
One 250 gr. bullet is all it takes if it lands in the right spot....

In my 45-70 Browning SRC I too carry not more than three or four rounds in the magazine tube. Maybe it is strange wording. If not I would simply get rid of the stupid plug. I will consider to order a 1886 Rifle.

Like you, I also have a Browning SRC 45-70 and it just seems to add extra weight to put more than 3 or 4 in the magazine.
As for the '86 / 71 rifles it will be interesting to see how well made they are and how close to original detail.
It would be hard to understand why they would plug an already short magazine tube, but who knows ??
