Russian CO2 BB gun

Not even in the same class as the Drozd. The Drozd is a full auto 600 rpm BB gun. The new Blackbird Drozd can use 88gram co2 bottles or 3 x 12 gram cartridges for extended firing times. It also holds almost a 1000 BB's in the mag. The Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW is a semi-auto and only uses a single 12 gram CO2 cartridges.
Please, lets compare apples with apples and not apples to oranges, people.

Can we start from the beginning and someone tell me exactly what the *** they are for?

I know they are not airsoft they use copper BB's but are they for plinking pest control or just to have for competition.

Thy're for shooting the neighbour's cat.

yer neighbour's must love that.:dancingbanana:

i have read the specs on them but are they actually any good for pest control?

are they accurate? out to what distance?

what kind of stopping power does a bb generate at 500 fps?

but being able to put 3 or 4 bb's in the pest at pretty much the same time should help with the lethality.

You can buy an aftermarket chip for the gun. The chip will increase the rpm to 1200. That will throw 20 BB's in a second. The chip is legal in Canada since it only increases the rpm and not the actual velocity of the BB. Actually, with a higher rpm, it will decrease your velocity by around 20 fps or so, which isn't too bad. Keep the gun firing in bursts and the CO2 won't freeze your gun.
Google Drozd / Blackbird and you will find lots of interesting mods and reviews.

I had one of these and got rid of it. Longer barrels CAN be fitted to improve aesthetics and velocity (accuracy?) but I don't know if the latter impacts legality. (even with the super-light BBs) They are surprisingly well-made, and I never had a single issue with mine. I'd say they're pop-can hunters, that's about it. They go off with more "oomph" and noise than you might expect them too, but a smooth barrel and crappy BBs can really spray your shots all over the place. Maybe a longer barrel improves this?

I had more fun (and accuracy) with it set on single-shot mode with a red dot sight. Even my kids could knock over pop-cans from 40' away or so. I think the CO2 freezes the barrel on the "auto" settings, things start to get screwy when you let 'r rip. There is allot written about these guns, and the mods for them, I kept mine totally stock. Fun toy, cool wall-hanger, but a pest gun...I don't know.

I DID end-up getting a hard-hitting, QB79 rifle that is now my favorite air gun. Easily modified, and damn accurate too. Consistent shot-to-shot power with a big 9oz. CO2 bottle hanging on the nose. I's strongly suggest one of them over a Drozd. D&L in BC sells the QBs.

Not the "tacticool" (a word I hate) factor of the Drozd, but even with a half-decent scope, comes in well-under the cost of one. My own, set-up with a 9X scope and Harris knock-off bipod.

Wow, that is a nice rifle and for a decent price. I might just have to pick up one. The drozd is somewhat expensive and if you want to mod it a bit, the expense adds up. But the fun factor is extremely high.
