Hat's off to Goo98 who I assume made this and in response to an old thread.

Interesting point on magazine incompatibility, this allow the Czechs to be logistically not compatible with the Russians. In the event of a breakaway or even in direct conflict, allows the Czechs to be self sufficient without the Russians being able to use their equipment.

On the flip slide, the Russians adopted the VZ61 Skorpion in special circles. Even Yugoslavia licensed it to produce it off the Czechs to use it themselves.

In some eastern block countries the Skorpion would have been a full size assault rifle.

Lol!

I've heard the Russian Spetsnaz used the CZ75 on occasion, if there is any Cold War Czech military firearm that was hands down superior to its Russian counterparts, the CZ75 was it.

It's too bad they never designed an SVD equivalent though, would have been cool to have a "Vz63" DMR in 7.62x54.

The 7.62x45, in my opinion, would have been the ultimate in those "medium" battle cartridges of the day. The 7.62x39 with an extra couple hundred fps would make it an even better hunting round too.
