Hey Guys;

I'm looking at buying a friends "collector's grade" Russian M44 carbine in 7.62x54R. It's new, unfired and all numbers match. He also has the sling, cleaning kit and a couple ammo pouches with it. Can anyone tell me what it is worth?

Cheers and THANKS!
Jay

I've seen unfired Polish M44's - these were common 20yrs ago or so as they were being surplused at that time. Maybe double check to see if it is Russian or Polish production piece.

Bought two last week from Weimajack, great little shooter for low price.

Ammo is easy to find and is around 0.25 $ a round, what else do I need to say.

$44.95? I paid about $80 for mine and its far from mint. In fact its a total mongrel of different Warsaw pact parts on a Polish receiver. But thats why I love it.

Do the ones Weimajack is selling have the giant Century billboards?

Until about 3 years ago SIR had hundreds(if not more...) M-44s, mainly Hungarian and Polish(mismatched, bits and pieces). It appears the Hungarian ones were of better quality and more sought after, so they sold first, about three years ago(if I am not mistaking, the initial asking price for those was $74.99). Towards the end, about two years ago, SIR was only left with Polish ones, which were not in the greatest shape, with no cleaning rods, etc(but still excellent shooters); for these they dropped te price to $44.95. I only bought ONE:redface: :(

Yeah, they just kinda disappeared once the Century rerfurbs came in a few years back. Ive often wondered if they have any left in the back.

If I remeber correctly, these were never sold together side by side at SIR. After the last batch of cheap Polish M-44s were sold, that was about it for milsurps in Winnipeg stores(Farmers Supply didn't really carry any milsurps); there was a couple months to a year, gap between the Mosins I was talking about earlier and the Century refurbs. It would be awesome if they had more of the cheap ones, but I would'n hold my breath on that.

I seem to remember Century M91/30s alongside the older M44s, then as soon as they disappeared the Century M44s appearing.

This could be wrong, as it was awhile ago and I stopped going to SIR regularly after they stopped getting in milsurps with any regularity.
