I've been plagued with a horror show from my sks, and thought I'd fix my problem with a new firing pin and retaining pin, however my sks seems to have a 1951-53 bolt, and i got sent a post 53 pin and retainer, which dont fit... my question therefore is, if i get a post 53 bolt (like the main body, minus extractor and pins) will it work with the rest of my rifle?

hm I wonder if one of our dealers like westrifle could try swapping them for you with their own stock. I myself couldnt say for sure. Have you contacted the seller of the parts to see if there is anything they can do for you?

im confused about your bolt , there is only two types, one for a spring firing pin and the other is non-spring . see below from russian SKS sticky.

you have a non-spring firing pin so the new firing pin should fit.

j. Carrier, Bolt & Firing pin. There are two types of bolt & carrier assembly, parts from each assembly are not interchangeable. Should you replace an assembly with a different type of assembly then you should have a gunsmith check the head spacing.

-Carrier & bolt. Non-spring type. part1950 - 1956 (below pic, bottom).
