Hello. I’m kind of a newbie. But I just got a real nice Russian SKS. Has all the factory markings, such as the inspection stamps, matte silver bayonet, serial numbers all match and no refurb markings. However the magazine does not match. How does this affect the value? The gun is truly amazing condition, and has all the signs of a non-refurb.

My SKS is serial# Н П 259 but the mag is Р 427 П

Everyone is trying to dump there sks nowadays, look on the EE and #######. There are unfired, mint condition Chinese factory 26 everywhere (stores) right now also, for $500. I wouldn't pay more than that for a matching non refurbished Russian right now, and even less for yours with a different mag.

I agree. I’m not trying to sell mine. I like it. I was just curious about value, I’m one of those guys that just likes to know what I have. I have read on other forums that the different mag number is not that big of a deal because of them being pinned. They would get mixed up.

yes, the magazine would have a negative impact on the value. i rather have matching and lightly refurb than mismatch and not refurb (yours).

I would pay no more than $500 for a matching one in mint condition, shipping included (rare years excluded). Actually I have one which I bought on the EE this year for $450 shipped and it is nicer and better and also unissued than 90% of the rifles on the EE, maybe nicer than all of them but it has been fired. I have one more I bought this year for $450 and also a matching numbers rifle with no refurb marks but it may be since it is a 1954 with laminate stock and the bayonet screw was out before. But it has a black bayo, so up in price we go, lol.

I believe half of what people are posting on the EE about the condition of their rifles and I already know that the price will be high.

I can only guess that many people are buying from dealers and pay $600 for a grade B rifle with mismatched serial numbers, so others assume their matching one must be much higher.

Heck, it is a SKS.

Don't sweat the non matching mag, you will never find the matching one, if it bothers you, just file the numbers down and restamp it.

Agree, and we are not even talking about the franken pinned welded mags which most people don't even mention. Hint: If there is no picture or no info from the seller about the mag, assume it is welded. File it down, lol.
