Long gone are the days when you could walk into Lever Arms and fondle the milsurps at will. The only things that used to be locked up were the handguns. Rows and rows of Martinis, Mausers,Lee Enfields of different marks, Springfields and Garands, not to forget the Krags and Remington Rolling Blocks as well as the Trap Doors and Stens, just to mention a few. There were also bins of antique chandlery from old ships and bins of military accessories, anything from web gear to telephones. There were also stacks and pallets of ammunition on the floor. The walls and ceilings were literally covered with museum quality maritime memorabilia. Those were the days that you could purchase a rifle and a crate of ammunition from Allan Lever on Dunsmuir Street, walk out the door for a block or two until you got to your vehicle or jumped on a bus and no one batted an eyelash. One time a bus driver told me I had to sit right behind him so I wouldn't trip anyone with all of the stuff I was carrying, Two rifles a sword and two bayonets with a black "spam can" of milsurp 303 Brit. He couldn't have cared less about what I had. I guess he'd seen it all before. Damn, I really miss thos days of reality and freedom. That's about the same time the politically correct revolution started and we started to give away our rights to a Pe--erhead named Trudeau, may he rot in hell. Sorry for the hijack, I hope some of the history of Lever Arms will be of interest to some.
