Russian SKS with no markings on top cover

I have a Russian SKS from the imports a couple of years ago. It is a TULA. It has no year markings on top cover. Top cover has a "faded rectangular patch on top. I read about this variant in bluing somewhere years ago. Anyone able to fill in any info for me? I don't know how to post pictures ,sorry.

Does it have a little star on the side?

The no date mark on the dust cover rifles are 55/56 versions. Some believe production continued into 1957 as well.


Edit: That is...if that cover is original. Which might not be true.

I have one of those too. Kinda strange with nothing on it. I'm keeping it in new condition you never know it might be collectable one day.
