I just read online that in the US, Russian Tokarev TT-33 pistols have greatly increased ie. over $1000 US.

Is this true? if so, why?

I have a beautiful 1949 Russian TT-33 and I'm sure that I didn't pay more than $300 CAN for it from Marstar (probably Marstar).

I imagine import is no go currently. Some american imported pistols I think had strange safeties retrofitted. The ones available most recently in canada were defaced with terrible markings for import. You are lucky to have a nice one

If your thinking of exporting to the US forget it. They currently have a ban on imports form Russia or any guns of Russian manufacturer. And the no safety thing is also an issue.
No I was not thinking of that.

I was watching the new episode of The Old Man where the protagonist is armed with a TT-33 so I took mine out of the safe and oiled it and did some internet searches on it.

I wish I had bought more cases of Surplus 7.62X25 when they were cheap..... why are you guys bumming about the Surplus Ammo?

I don't shoot mine much because I hate having to clean it immediately after firing.
Keep an eye out for a 9mm conversion barrel and mag, Lever Arms was selling them but are sold out last I checked. I picked one up on GP, make shooting the tt more convenient. It’s a straight drop in and you can use reg tt mags, they will feed 9mm pretty well.

Corrosive ammo is a bit more work, I like boiling water, an air gun and some balistol to finish it off, not too much work.

There are worse problems in this world then having a crate of corrosive surplus in long term storage that's for sure!
