So I'm a new owner of an SKS, and can't believe I waited so long to get one (I'm more of a pistol guy). I like it already and can't wait to get it out to the range, but I noticed that the safety doesn't seem to have a spring. I've read that Russian SKS's were made with two different trigger groups, one designed without a spring and one without. Not sure if this is true or not. Does anyone know what's up with the safety? I'd like to have a safety that I can trust as I would like to possibly use it as a deer rifle too, but without a spring in the safety it doesn't give me a lot of confidence as anything could push the safety to the off position or somewhere in between.
Also I don't know much about SKS's obviously. I remember years ago they were much cheaper than they are now, especially the chinese ones. But the Russian Tula Refurbs don't have a chrome lined barrel do they?
Anyways hopefully someone can help me out here. If it's possible to install a spring on the safety I would also much appreciate someone pointing me out to somewhere I could get one.
