Hey guys,

Looking to make myself a little Christmas gift and I was looking at the TT33. I can get my hands on pretty much any kind, but the russian and polish models really catch my eye. What is the main difference between the two other than one being unissued?

Is it worth the price premium for the unissued one or am I missing something of note on this one?

Thanks!

Apparently the Polish ones use an earlier style hammer that is harder on the firing pin (more pin wipe on the primer).

My firing pin failed after less than 1500 rounds.....which took us all of 3 sessions last winter!

I just ordered a Russian model from a local store that had a pre order special at $129 ea. ought to have it this week.

My brother has a Polish one out of the same crate as mine and it's fine, BTW. Mine might have just had a weak pin. But he's afraid to shoot his too much anyway! ;)

It was Dominion Outdoors in Winkler MB. I think it was a limited time deal for the first 10 people to order. They're listed at $180 now I see.

They've got mosin nagants for $150 though. Mostly the white box heavy shellac ones in the war time stocks...

For the post war models quality is the same one major difference. Soviet Police would practice with theirs so they may have some use Polish Police is notorious for firing 25 shoots or less for the course of 20 years of service

Soviet pre-war TTs have good quality, war-time - so-so, post war is best. That is when you choose shooter. Collectors value more pre-war, then war time especially 1940-1941, post-war are not of specific interest, however here in Canada prices for war-time and pre-war are the same. Some collectors focusing on - non-issued, so it's all up to you.

Given equal condition, doubt that you would notice any difference.
My Polish one is a good shooter; had to shift the rear sight slightly to get a zero. Given the price of the ammunition - as long as it lasts - excellent recreational shooters.

what store? do they still have the deal?

I have both (Soviet TT-33 and a Polish)...They shoot very good ….couldn’t tell the difference. Right now at SFRC, you can get a Polish “unissued” for 249$ or a Russian TT-33 for 179$ and also at Marstar you can get the same deal and for the a Non refurb Soviet Christmas special for 239$. ( with free shipping)

Very good service with both of them. You can’t go wrong with these little tank handgun!

I have 4 Tokerevs, 3 russian and 1 Polish, the Polish one shoots the best for me, its also the most cosmetically appealing.

I've got a Russian wartime, post war and Polish. Not much difference but the Russian post war is probably my best shooter of the three. But it was also my first so it may be biased. You never forget your first.
