According to many reports I have read the best rust "buster" for nuts/bolts etc is Kroil ... unfortunately .. not available here in Ontario (as far as I know)...the second best rust "buster" is reported to be "PB Blaster" ... previously not selling in Ontario ... but now I found PB Blaster is available from Canadian Tire.... I just purchased some and plan to try this mythical stuff...has anyone had any experience with it???

You should be able to get Kroil from somewhere in Ontario if you really want it. It's sold through John Deere distributors on the 'net, so you can order it if you like.

I've used PB Blaster before and not found it to be signifigantly better than WD40.

...oh oh...I was afraid of that... that's damning with faint praise for sure!

Liquid Wrench has always worked well for me
... yes it seems ok...but I was lead to believe that Kroil "dissolves rust" and PB Blaster is a close second.....

I have learned to live with the "perfume" of Liquid Wrench in all my tools etc as a result of constant and lengthy contact... was hoping for a "miracle" ... guess there is no free lunch.............

It's not Kroil, but I have used "Nutz Lube " with good success, over the last few years. In fact I no longer use WD40, since Nutz Lube has no harsh odor, and is safe for use on electronics as well.I think it's available at TSC, but if you can't find it anywhere else, they sell it at Apple Auto Glass.

My can of Kroil reads that it displaces water, provides lubrication and prevents rust. It does not say anything about "dissolving rust"
It will creep into places that you don't want it to, ie through the bedding screws and into the bedding.

check out the web page 3w.kanolabs.com

if you can find it ZEP 45 is by far my preference for rust issues
for lubricatiuon i like honey goo also produced by zep but again havent been able to find it since i moved up here

The best fluid I've found for breaking rust is GM Penetrating fluid. It is not a lubricant, but for rusted parts nothing comes close. I've been an auto tech for 30 yrs and have tried them all, including those mentioned above. Go to your local GM dealer and their parts dept. will have it. I can even get the part # for you if you like .

I plan to be driving by Accuracy Plus next week and will get some Kroil ... I will also try to get that GM stuff "the Wrench" recommends.. I already have CLP and wd 40 and Liquid Wrench (and a shelf full of the others including soem stuff from Krown) ...I feel a "test" coming on!!!.... with my luck I might as well pick up some hss drill bits as well!!!
thanks everyone ......... very much!!!

I used to use a product called "Naval Jelly" on car parts. It was a thick pink fluid that you painted/brushed/poured on and it actually seemed to dissolve rust. Is it too strong for firearms?

It will take the blueing right off a firearm.
