Hey folks...

Dug out an ammo can full of goodies I forgot I had received on a trade a couple years ago. Inside I had:
200 - 230gr .45 (.451) FMJ's
550 - 185gr .45 (.451) hollow points
and some.45 dies...

Anyways, I pulled the dies out, and they have some rust on em. NOthing too serious, but I was wondering if they'd be okay w/ a good scrub w/ a brass chamber brush and some CLP. Also, their made by Bonanza. It's a 3 die set. Will these work similiarly to my Lee dies?

Thanks.

Says their made by Bonanza Sports, Faribault, Minn...

Not sure what one of the dies is, it's just wide open all the way through...

Kinda pisses me off that I found these seeing as I just bought a set of Lee .45 dies like a month ago! arg!

Anyways, just some a brass brush and some CLP, they cleaned up pretty nicely. Was minor surface rust it seems.

0000 steel wool on a cleaning brush, with some non embedding bore polishing compound, stuff it in a drill and give them a polish on the inside, likely be shinnyer than when they were new.

Your bonanza dies may be plain hardened steel, not carbide, therefore require case lube. Look for a carbide ring soldered-pressed into bottom of sizing die. These dies are sometimes marked TC(tungsten-carbide). The hollow die may be a separate crimp die, or a seating die lacking the threaded seating punch. good luck

Bonanza dies are old. Nothing wrong with that, but you won't be able to get any parts should you need any. Decapping pins aren't a big deal though. Most of 'em are interchangeable. Or you can make one.
Is there any rust inside the die? The outside doesn't matter. 0000 steel wool and oil will clean that off.
