S and W model 18 trigger doesn't have consistent two clicks in double action

Hi all, just got into revolvers recently.
My 586 has a very smooth and predictable double action trigger with distinct 2 clicks before releasing.
My model 18, however, doesn't have consistent double clicks. Sometimes it just jumps straight from the first click to firing and other times it's very sensitive to reach the 2nd click and is a heavier pull of the trigger than other chambers.
Any idea what could be causing this and if it's something I can fix at home, and if not, could you please recommend a good gunsmith with knowledge in tuning S and W revolver triggers?

I just tried three different K frames. In DA, all give one click, and then no more until they fire. - dan

I think the second click is the locking of the cylinder as it stops rotating. If the timing is off the cylinder may not lock before the hammer drops. Please verify what I am saying but I think it is all about timing.
