S&b pmII VS nightforce Atacr

I have a NXS 8-32x56 - don't like that the eye bell rotates when you zoom - spins the Butler Creek cover all over the place.
I have an S&B 12-50x56 - don't like that the parallax setting is completely out of calibration.

Otherwise both are very fine pieces of gear. Spend what you can afford, either of them will make you very happy.

Honestly, I am a Sunday evening night shooter, but I like all of them.

I have put a Sightron on my 300 WM and even if Peter was not over enthousiastic with that it did the job well and sustain the beating.

You want to have the best of the best of the best go Hensoldt.

Snipers uses S&B. Some Sniper use NForce and Some USOptics.

Just ask Peter Dobson about the new Sightron FF Tactical (I bought 2 from him) and try to tell me the difference with the other S&B and NForce with respect to optics.

FInally, when I go shooting I do not go to war so I take care a lot of all my precious eqquipment.

Well it seems silly for people just to put stuff where ever they feel like it when there are other spots intended for it. It just makes stuff hard to find. No wonder people keep asking the same questions over and over and then over and over have people growl at them for not searching before asking the question. Anyway, we can discuss those issues elsewhere as I never intended to hijack this thread, I must just be grouchy because I'm getting a snowstorm tonight :)

My friend, the most important fact is YOU, what you prefer and like IS the most important.

S&B, NForce, USOptics, Hensoldt, Premier reticule, in short they all have their + and their -.

As an engineer, my best advice would be choose something best for hunting or target or long range. But none will do everything right in ALL departments.

Like I said, I am a week-end shooter, loved to chat with my friend, shoot some rounds, go hunting and fall asleep.

If your going to be shooting out to 1000 y,F class I would say your under scoped with a 25x scope. If your thinking of spending money for a S&B or Nightforce.
I don,t own one but have used a friends 8 to 80x 56mm March and for me its about as good as it gets for a long range shooting scope. Canadas F/TR team shooting at worlds last summer in Raton winning silver. Two shooters on team where using March scopes both 80x.
When shooting F class in Ottawa last summer fellow could see his bullet holes at 600 m, 55x Nightforece you can not see holes.
I know there will be a couple more of shooters using the March scopes this year.

Not many days the air is still enough to see bullet holes at 900m with a 56 mm scope. More likely it's blurry enough you dial it back to 30x or less.
 
I had a good conversation with my shooting partner on Sunday after a great day of shooting. The conclusion for ME was I will never buy another midrange scope again. This comment came after using a scope I purchased here off of one of our fine fellow Gunnutz, I guess I have gotten used to shooting my Premier Reticles and S&B. In a hunting situation it wouldn't bother me but shooting long range sucks with an OK scope when you know there is much better out there.
 
You know what would really be awesome? If jounalists and magazine editors would get off their lazy dumb asses, and post pictures through the these scopes at test targets to measure and quantify the actual differences in these lenses, so we could figure out once and for all, which scope was the best, and by how much.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, but people prefer to type.

But then it would start all over with discussions about the quality of the lens of the camera used to take the pictures and which camera & lens is the best to photograph the differences .... and then it would continue onto the picture print quality in the magazine ... sorry .... I just had to stir the pot a bit more

Nothing wrong with stirring the pot :). Well in a proper test, you would have to use the same camera & lenses on all scopes in a review to give a fair review on all products. It just would be nice to see some through the scope images even if they have to go through a camera lense as well.
