This is a 1" tubed scope, anyone here with experience with this particular unit?

Not interested in any other S&B reviews other than this very model...I am fully aware of S&B's reputation and level of quality.

I bought one a few years ago and did a little review here:

I've since sold that one(among many other things, lol). I recently picked up a Zenith 3-12x50 with FD7 reticle at a super price from Wolverine Supplies.

To make a long story short, for the couple hundred extra, I'd drop the Summit like a hot potato in favour of the Zenith, not the least of which is the illuminated dot. Check it out.

Thanks for the link to your review. Your comments seem to be quite positive re the Summit. Your comments about the A7 reticle might be the deal breaker for me, I need a reticle that will be useful as a hunting reticle. The A7 doesn't appear to be the right choice.

Is the Zenith available in a 1" tube? And a smaller objective? I will never own a scope with a 50mm objective, have no need for one.

No, that would defeat the purpose of the whole Zenith line. All Zenith's are 30mm, in fact I believe the Summit is the only one that's 1". You can get a 1.5-6x42 in a Zenith, or you have to go to a Klassik to get the 3-12x42, but the savings aren't there.

Also check out the Swarovski Z3 3-10x42 if you want a 1" tube. Great scope, not much difference than the S&B and almost half the price..
