The SHOT show? It's that time of year already? Damn, time just flies.
IIRC there was some reference to a per unit cost of around 45K when the F2000 originally came out- due to the super duper computer controlled range finding/compensating integrated grenade launching mega optic (and maybe including r&d costs)..... (strangely enough not included with the civvie version)

I suspect the SCAR will end up in the "why did we buy it?" pile at Special Operations Command, where all the H&K Mark 23s have already been dumped...
I'm sure it works, but then so does the Mark 23. By the time they field it, Afghanistan and Iraq will be winding down (in fact the US are going to have only one sector in Afghanistan shortly), and that's really what it was bought for.

However, I can't see any reason why it couldn't be legally imported into Canada, other than the mag needing to be restricted to 5 round capacity.
The only way Americans could have that gun is for it to be imported with a 16-inch barrel and then cut down to SBR length and registered as an NFA weapon. And even then I'm not sure, because it uses an LCMM.

The gun is already in the US and has shipped very limited numbers up to now. According to FN at the SHOT Show, they have just started shipping both Black and Green versions in the US. Over the next month or two they expect to clear up most of the old backlog.
Ammunition issues are also finally being overcome with 3 rounds (SS195LF, SS196SR and SS197R... they had samples and test data completed)... this supposedly to be available in large quantities very soon (month or so). Pricing on the ammunition is still quite high though.
FN is actually pushing these guns out to US dealers... part of a dealer promo... which they wouldn't be doing if they didn't expect to be able to deliver them within a reasonable timeframe.

We have requested an "official" classification and the decision is pending. CFC has indicated they believe it is a "Restricted" firearm but RCMP have not yet completed their analysis.
We should have final determination in the next month or so.

Bullpup does not equal prohibited. The ruling on the G22 actually helps the case for the PS90 and FN2000 as they cannot be fired without the stock.
Aftermarket Bullpup stocks are prohibited because the people who made the laws are afraid of short guns.
