man, they haven't had good milsurp deals like that in a long time... I got my first mosin there for 75 bucks I think, not a refurb or import marked or anything, just a nicely patina'ed 1915 westinghouse M91 (with lots of history, stamps etc)...No screaming deals like that anymore, although if they had any sense they might again start importing more mega cheapo milsurps from the states, I'd love to be able to pick up almost any bolt action milsurp imaginable for 150 bucks! then again I'd be even more broke...
FYI those are not refurb marks (although the rifles SIR has have been refurbed in european arsenals), they are importers marks from the company who brought the guns into the U.S.A...
As far as collectability goes, man, I am so sick of people short changing mosins! price does not necessarily mean collectibility! Most of the M44's and M91/30s I've seen at SIR, although refinished, have got LOADS of stamps. many different mfg dates... If those things could tell you where they've been, you would NOT be dissing them. would you put your nose up at a Garand potentially used on D-Day? why snub a mosin carved by Ivan's hand in a basement that was potentially used at stalingrad, kursk, berlin, etc?
So yes! you did the right thing! a mosin will bring you lots of joy. These are underappreciated now, because they are cheap and available (which is why you should love them! ammo's cheap too!). A mosin is a hell of a lot of rifle for the money. Get em now, cause in a few years they will be hot. Look at the following stateside! Im sure people thought the same kind of things years ago when Enfields and Mausers were available cheaply...
