Anyone have any experience with these? Thinking about grabbing one because of the price. Can't find any reviews. I know they're not chrome lined, would it be a pain in the ass to clean?

What advantages would polygonal rifling give you?

Someone PM'ed me with a 14.5" S&J barrel for sale, so I'm going to snag that, might buy a full 10.5" NEA upper when they're available too.

Polygonal is a much abused and maligned term :(

A polygonal barrel has no lands or grooves of any kind, the internal structure of the barrel itself is "twisted" to induce spin to the bullet and all surfaces are flat. Very few barrels are such, early HK (the P7 for example), the Steyr GB and some other European handguns. Glock is NOT polygonal and I think, but I'm not sure, the NEA rifling will be similar to the Glock's, in other words it will have lands and grooves but the rifling is smooth and has no sharp edges, something like the Remington R5 barrels.

While no one has conclusively showed that one rifling design is superior to another, true polygonal and the R5 type are claimed to exhibit slightly higher velocities and are easier to clean because the rifling does not "dig" or "cut" into the bullet jacket.
