So my budget has taken a beating in the last few months and there is not really any room for a real pistol at the exact moment, but have the money for one of these. Given the current political state i am thinking that one to grandfather (if they go that way) will keep my foot in the door.

What does everybody elts think? yes they have no value for anything nor resale possibility, so kind of a waste of the money but great as a door wedge should it come to that.

Sounds like a plan to me! Buy a cheap stripped AR lower if you can afford one too! I still regret not buying one of the 12.6 hunks of junk the NFA brought in to get people grandfathered...

If you do get a lower, make sure get the registration changed from "lower-only."

Who knows, if grandfathering ends up being the route taken, they may dictate a lower-only doesn't count.

AFAIK that would require a rewrite of the Firearms Act, which is a LOT more work and process...

For 150$ more you can add a complete pistol if you shop around. If you want a restricted frame, I can sell you one for half the amount than in that link you posted. PM me if still interested.

True... and that would be basically impossible to accomplish in 4 years, as a minority government, with far more pressing issues, and political fallout to deal with.

Still, I'd probably err on the side of caution. Low probability, high consequence type deal.
