Need some help with my 270wsm, I can't get my reloads to fit like new rounds in my rifle. The reloads fit tight and the bolt is hard to close, tryed full size , neck size , dies screwed in more , out more , took a little off the shell holder to get the case into die father, nothing works, tryed to measure case atdifferent spots ,seems like the body is not getting sized enough. Anyone have tthe same problems?

So, does the cartridge drop in the chamber without closing the bolt? I had a similar issue with my wsm, but I just took the shellholder down a bit and it bumped the shoulder back to fit perfectly. How much did you take off the holder? My lee holders measure different thicknesses, even the same numbered ones.

The standard 270 Winchester is a very nice cartridge to reload for. Those kind of problems are non existant! Oops, I forgot, these modern critters in the bush require WSM to kill them.

New case and a resized case both will go in the chamber when dropped in , it's when you begin to rotate and close the bolt on the resized case it is tough to do. new case bolt closes easily.

Yes, I shoot a 6.5-270WSM, basically similar.

After the second or third firing I need to bump the shoulder, as it grows considerably

You can use a Forester bushing bump die, it is priced affordably, and gives you a great result.

Some people use a redding body die instead, but you still have to neck size after.

I have had some miserable stuff like that with the 300 wsm. I eventually fixed it by taking more and more off the shellholder.I actually ended up taking off about 5 thou..... Sometimes the chamber is smaller than the FL die.

The advantage of the Redding body sizing die is you can run loaded rounds into them. No need to diassemble loaded ammo:D

The shellholder reduction worked great this time around guys ,and I like the body sizing die idea, now someone said that a person could run loaded rounds through that die is that a for sure safe method?

Perfectly safe. Done it hundreds of times and have even loaned my .308 body die to a couple friends that needed to body size/bump shoulder back on loaded ammo. Nothing touches the neck and of course with the round in a shell holder in the press nothing touches the primer.

Body Dies Redding has been making Body Dies for Benchrest Shooters for years, but they were never a catalogued item.

Now, with the introduction of the new Bushing-style Neck Sizing Dies, they are available as a companion item for all 48 calibers.

Body Dies are designed to full length resize the case body and bump the shoulder position for proper chambering without disturbing the case neck. They are made without internal parts and intended for use only to resize cases which have become increasingly difficult to chamber after repeated firing and neck sizing...For Ordering Numbers, seeBushing Style Dies Chart

I have been reloading for 27 years and have never had to shave a shell holder or grind down a die to size cases.

Every problem has a solution and shaving dies or shellholders is not one of them.

The tolerances built into reloading dies etc are quite tight and any manufacturer would be more than glad to fix any problem their equiptment might have usually free of charge.

Sent back the dies to lee a couple of times with cases, round trip to Lee and back was 2 months, Lee said that they would make adjustments to the die , never did ,took 30mins, shellholder to sandpaper on the basement floor and my cases fit great now, very confident that they will shoot good and that it will be safe.

I have 3 target rifles in .308. All have been chambered with the .308 Obermeyer match reamer. The 40X and the Wichita will take just about anything I feed it. My Millunnium action rifle will not chamber brass that was neck sized only that was fired in the 40X or Wichita. Run the loaded rounds in the body sizing die and you are good to go.
