Finally got to shoot my (new to me) s&w 1911sc. This is the bobtail commander version with the scandium frame.

Really fits in my hand nicely, but I'm wondering what the rest of you think about the recoil? I had one of the staff members at the range tell me, "..you are going to feel the recoil..." "...it's really snappy.."

I have one other 45, the unmarked norc from the canada ammo deal. I think I noticed more "snap" when compared to that full size version, but it wasn't outrageous and I still shot with my normal level of accuracy (meaning the gun shoots better than I do)

Anyone else care to share your thoughts on the scandium version. I really like mine

i have the Scandium framed older brother 1911PD Commander. For its weight, I didn't notice any significant recoil. I was told the same thing when I bought it but had no issues. The .45 is more of a push than a snap anyways. Great gun! Enjoy it!

anybody else.....wondering about your thoughts. I'm always amazed at the differences in perception from shooter to shooter regarding recoil.

I don't have a S&W e series 1911, although it's on my list. I have a kimber 1911 in .45 and as Still Alive said I find the recoil more of a push than a snap. My M&P in .40 on the other hand has a snappy recoil.
