This is an old revolver. Probably the K-22 father or grandfather. Serial # is 1614X, and this number is penciled inside one of the grips, too.
It includes a soft leather shoulder holster. The type with just a simple over the shoulder strap. There are no markings on the holster at all.
The frame size reminds me of the J frame. It seems strange to have a 6" barrel on a small frame, although I assume in its day, putting a 22 on a 32 frame was a move to a larger frame.
It is not very heavy. I can see carrying it in the holster as a field gun, although my choice would have been a 4" or 5" barrel for carry.
I am wondering how old the revolver is; did the holster come with it from S&W and what the approximate value might be?
This revolver belonged to a well known Canadian target rifle shooter. He is in this picture of the winning 1938 Kolapore Team in Bisley, England. I knew half of them. They are all gone, now.
