I'm not an expert with hanguns but always wanted a 22 semi. I have an opportunity to purchase one of these new in the box for about $300. This seems like a deal compared to retail prices but is this a good , reiable firearm? Any info would be greatly appreciated? Maybe I should post in the RF form?
BTW, this one does not have the bull barrel.

I shot a lot of rounds out of one that wasn't mine. I came close to buying one because it worked so well despite being a highly abused rental gun. As it turned out I found it's father and bought a nice used 422. But if I had not come across that 422 I would have bought a 22A without any concerns at all. And don't worry about it not having a bull barrel.

Having said that most .22 handguns do have some quirks. Some minor trouble shooting and tuning may be required to make it shoot well with a given type of ammo. For example, another .22 I have did well with 40gn CCI Standard Velocity ammo but poorly with 38gn high velocity ammos. The secret sign was that the ejected cases were all but dribbling out over my hand from a lack of recoil energy. A new slightly lighter recoil spring let the slide move back fully and with a bit more speed and energy. From that point on it's been a delightfully reliable shooter with 38gn HV rounds as well as the CCI SV ammo. So don't be afraid to ask and play with any .22 you may get if it isn't totally reliable with the ammo you want to shoot.

I purchased a 22-a with the bull barell and laminated wood grips back in November and have about 400 rounds through it. Any problems have been ammo related. I am shooting it in the local league and other than still having to tweak the sights a little bit it shoots pretty good. I didn't get a real good chance at trying different ammo but federal auto match in a 325 bulk pack shot good other than one round that seemed to fire a little light and didn't chamber the next round, the ammo that I am using is cci standard velocity shoots good groups and absolutly no problems.

Hi
I have had three of these little guns and I still have two of them. They are great little guns and I would recomend them to anyone. Mine will shoot any and all kinds of ammo with little or no problems which is more then I can say for some of my other .22 handguns.

I bought one last summer. I have 1300 rounds through it without a single failure to feed, and very few failures to eject. I paid $309.00 plus HST for mine. I like it a lot.

I have one. It's the only .22 handgun I've ever shot, so I can't compare it to anything else, but it will eat anything I feed it and rarely complain. I've had a few stovepipes and if I remember correctly it failed to feed once, but that's over probably about 5000 rounds so no major complaints there. The only thing I didn't like about mine is that the slide lock didn't always work properly. I tried to bend it out just a hair to get it to engage the slide on the empty gun each time and it snapped. I still haven't replaced it, so I do have to suffer the minor inconvenience of having to count rounds every time, but other than that my experiences have all been positive.

I bought of these in an all black finish. Haven't shot it yet but from what I've read, they are very accurate. Tons of spare parts available from Brownells.

I have one with thousands of rounds down it. It works like a champ, very accurate and reliable. Countless other people have handled it at different open-house events at my club, that is to say club members mentoring visitors and visitors using it. Not a burp.
