just looking into a s&w 22a 22lr handgun, anyone know anything about them, how they shoot, best ammo to feed them with ,etc.any info is greatly appreciated.

I have one and have had two. Both of mine work great and shoot very well. The great part is they shoot any ammo and they are cheap. I have put over two thousand rounds through the one I have now and it still works the same as the first time I took it out to the range, great.

They have sharp edges, sharp protruding controls, a peculiarly-located magazine release, a magazine disconnector, and a spongy triggerpull.

They're just cheap.

Badger Arms has had great pricing on the 22As.

I was considering one, and they were very helpful discussing it. Their reliability experience has been very good with it (although there have been some variations in people's experiences with them).

And, if you don't live in Sask, you don't pay PST.... yet.....

The one I used for a while at the rental gun range did fine. Some days it would jam on about one round per magazine but when I would return it they confirmed that it had been many hundreds of rounds since it was last cleaned. It finally gave up the ghost but not before many, many thousands of rounds had gone through it. This was a gun that saw about 2000 to 2500 rounds per month and got cleaned about once per month. It lasted for over two years before it was retired due to requireing too much attention. In the hands of a dedicated owner that cleaned and lubed it more often I suspect it would last for longer.

All in all it was a nice little gun for the money. But for a little more you can get a basic Browning Buckmark that I like the feel of enough more that I'd go that way. This still didn't stop me from buying the 22A's father, the 422. And recently I bought the short barrel version of the 2206. Neither of these two guns is going anywhere but to the range with me anytime soon.
