I am thinking of getting a 22 pistol. For something inexpensive to start with I am considering a s&w 22a . It will be used for informal target shooting. Also I am left handed. Anyone have experience with this pistol

Hi

I recently purchased one. I've only had it to the range once, it functioned perfectly no issues at all. I'm new to shooting so I cannot comment on accuracy or grouping but it feels good in my big hands and i had no issues with it. When I had it out another club member showed up with the same gun only he had a red dot on his, and his grouping and accrazy was for me impressive.

taking it apart to clean it was easy and it was easy to re assemble.

hope this helps. it probable doesn't but at minimm it will move the thread to the top

I have had three and I still have one. They work very well for the money you spend for them. The only issue I have seen in that some of them, is that from a fully loaded mag they won't feed the second cartridge. If you only load nine rounds they will work perfectly.

One of my guns did this but two of them worked perfectly. I have read about this on the Smith & Wesson forum but nobody seems to know what causes it as it is random and not all guns do it.

I love my 22A, its very accurate with a red dot scope. I've had some issues with the rail screws coming loose but some loctite fixed that. After 10000 rounds of bulk ammo, the firing pin broke. I still would recommend it over the sig or walther.

Hi i have one of the Talo Special Edition ones and it was accurate right out of the box i put over a thousand threw it. A few fail to fires probly do to crappy old ammo i had laying around other then that i like it. Its a keeper good gun to start with if your getting into target shooting. You cant beat the price and ammo is cheap...

I'm a southpaw as well and I bought one of these a couple of years ago. While it is accurate enough for plinking and perforating zombies, I do have a couple of issues. However, they may be related to the finger tip on my left hand bird finger being unbendable due to having been broken as a teenager.

So, first off, I do find there to be a little too much back to front reach on the grip because of the inability to bend that finger tip, also, I find the mag release to be in an awkward position, seeing as it is on the frontstrap.,,I have accidentally hit it a couple of times. But again, this could be because of my inability to bend that finger tip...and yes, it can be a pain on other guns as well, but I seem to notice it more on this one.

for the money they're a great gun, but they aren't a Model 41 in disguise.

You'll be happy with it as a plinker and informal target gun, but they won't shoot with a Ruger MkIII or a Buckmark IMHO. THat being said, the difference i'm talking about is 1/4-3/8 of an inch at 15 yards.....they will still shoot better then 99% of shooters out there. buy it and have fun!
