I just picked up a 29-2 serial no S2500xx and was wondering where to find the manufacture date
As it is an s prefix it is between 61 and 69 I believe
Also got dies 500 primers over 300 240 grain lswc 40 jacketed and 300 brass some loaded
all loaded rounds are marked with type of powder bullet date etc but still not sure if Ill use them . I casually know the fellow who loaded them but still not sure most are loaded light by all reloading books I have seen

Thanks

Pm rfo1, he has been collecting smiths for years. Just give him the full serial number and he can help you, he has done it for me before.

Serial S250000 was on a 28-2 model and was shipped on the 11th of March 1964. Yours should also have been shipped in the second week of March 1964.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info I was just curious It is in excellent shape also a speed loader and 2 sets of hogue grips and the original wood box although it is missing the cleaning gear it came with

I think the price was fair at $700

29-2

The price was way more than fair mate, you scored big. Those grips are original and called Coke's, they alone are worth $400 plus. Enjoy your 29-2, but I personally would not shoot other peoples reloads.

still debating on the reloads If I didnt know the fellow who reloaded them and how fussy he is about his reloading I surely would not shoot them 240 rounds to pull if I decide not to shoot them
