S&W 41 or S&W 52 - Which Would You Choose?

Well, it's settled for now. I just bought a 41. Missed out on what looked to be a cherry 52-2 by a couple of minutes. Such is life. I'm sure the 41 and a few thousand rounds can distract me.

Congratulations on getting mod. 41!

You haven't missed out. My 52-2 is still available for sale.

Cheers,
Dan

No hurry.

Never even posted it on EE yet, might do it some time next week, unless one of the fellas that messaged me here gets it first.

I just bought one this week, 52-2, as it came from the factory according to the seller. Hopefully gets transferred soon and I hope it's as good as described when I pick it up.

Now, anyone seen any 148gr Midrange .38spl HBWC in stock anywhere? I know Remington and Winchester still make the stuff. Need some to benchmark the reloads I'm soon to be making.

Congrats! I would like to add one a one point for sure. Definitely post a range report.

If you can find yourself a 70's model 41 that would be my choice. I wouldn't waste my money on current production 41's. Anything current production for that matter.

Not so fast on putting down current production S&W 41s. I have a PC S&W41 and it's a pure tack driver to say the least. It's also a beautifully manufactured piece that is factory tuned.

S&W 41 wonderful owned one sold it. Wish I had not sold it. Bought a Hammerli. No complaints on that . The other great 22 owned and sold High Standard .

About 10 years ago came across a model 52. Could not believe my luck. Sitting in a case at a gun store. Bought it.

It is a tack driver . Remington HBWC flawless function. Saying that Hornady 148 grain HBWC. With 2.5 grains Bullseye wonderful target load.

They will bury me with it. Well actually someone at EESA will get it when I'm gone. Same as the Hammerli.

Agreed. I looked at a few new ones and they give up very little to the 70's guns; the pre-A series have nicer bluing, but that's about it. The issue is a used one is less than 1/2 price of the new ones with the same performance, as long as it's in good shape.
