Which one would you guys choose.

What I really want is stainless .44 mag with as close to a 4" full lug barrel as I can get but I can't find exactly what I want so I have narrowed it down to these two choices.

I had a S&W 44 but sold it after getting a Ruger Redhawk 44 with a 5.5" barrel. Just like the feel of the ruger better though the smith did have a nice trigger.

I traded a Taurus .357 for a .44 mag Ruger SRH, thank you! I had the 7 1/2" barrel chopped down to 5" and crowned nicer. It looks nice but I should have gone a little shorter!

I'm not talking caliber, just makes. In our company that uses both makes as service pistols, I'll always put my money on the reliability of S&W. Our statistics show that there is lower break-down with S&W. We have alot of silly people that make mistakes, or drop the tools. Almost every break down was with the ruger security six.

I have had both. The Redhawk is much tougher and more comfortable to shoot. The 629 is easier to pack, and has a much better single action trigger pull out of the box. Also, the 629 will go out of timing quickly if you shoot lots of factory level loads thru it. I have never seen or heard of any Ruger D.A. revolver going out of time.

I find the Ruger Fits better in my hand then the S&W and doesn't give as firm a hand shake as the 629. I'm a bit of a recoil pussy I guess but in .44mag the Red Hawk seems a little more polite after the third round.
That's about the end of the argument for me.

In this gun I can shoot 45 Colt's from 200gr @ 600fps to 345gr @ 1200fps I can then move up to my 454 Casull loads of 240gr @ 1650fps to 405gr @ 1200fps.

That is the best thing about a SRH you can load then from mild to wild... :)

Here is a short YouTube video clip of me drawing and shooting 3 shots of 405gr Beartooth WLNGC's @ 1200fps.

The holster is a brand new Bob Mernikle which will explain the draw, I missed getting the thumb break released properly...

Gunnar @ Armco converted my 7.5" barreled gun to this for $300 I also installed Crimson Trace laser grips...
