S&W 686 w/5” barrel

Anybody else have one? How common are these?

S&W offers a 5" 686 Plus...7 shots...
I ordered one through my local dealer, so they are certainly available, and
got them to stock some 7 shot speedloaders as well...
I like the look and balance better than my old 6" 686, and I don't think that
there's a huge penalty in accuracy...
If target shooting was the goal, I would stick to the longer barrel...

5" ? - I'd say rare or really new. I can't find any listing in the Blue Book of Gun Values for a 5" 686 - either from the performance center or regular production. 8 3/8", 6", 4", 3", and 2 1/2" are all there but not 5.

Nice gun, BTW...

The only factory 5" 6 shot 686 I found in my Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson book was made in 1989 for Bill Davis in a run of 500 revolvers manufactured with an unfluted cylinder, Product Code 104254. The book covers up to the year 2001.

THANKS for the info, much appreciated.!!!

When I get home this PM, I'll post some pics of my 5", 7 shot.....
I have had it for a year or so...just like the look and balance better than the
standard 6" barrel...Also got to love an extra round!:D

P & D Enterprises has one in stock according to their website. I bought mine from them just over a year ago. Good people to deal with.
