S&W Cylinder?

This cylinder turned up with some odds and ends. Looks to be .38S&W. I'm assuming it is from one of the vintage top-break S&W revolvers.

Not sure they put the serial number on the cylinder of the old top breaks.

But definitely the early double action S&W revolvers usually had the serial number on the frame; cylinder & the underside flat of the barrel forward of the frame.

The serial number is one of the reasons I'm suspecting S&W.
It certainly resembles the illustration in GPC's schematic drawing.
