Anyone know anything about the S&W i-Bolt rifles, floor plate, or drop out mag. Are these guns available in Canada, and are they any good, looking for something in 270. Price ect.
Thanks

all i know is that they come from the factory with Timney triggers and barrels made by Thompson/Center. the action, safety, trigger, bottom metal/floorplate seem very similar to a Remmy 700.

theres the receiver next to a Remmy 700 receiver.

theres a closeup of the bolt, interesting design although its hard to get excited about push-feed:

its nice that more attention is being paid to triggers - love em or hate em you really have the mainstream popularity/ease of average Joe adjustment of Savages Accutrigger putting pressure on a lot of manufacturers to improve their ####ty triggers to thank for this.

i admit i was ripping on lack of innovation in the firearms industry, but if theres one good thing to come in the last decade its an increased focus on providing a good factory trigger. i guess people are catching on that often the cheapest and most effective way to improve accuracy is with a better trigger :)

when i first looked at this i thought 'WTF is the point of this', much like the Mossberg 4x4.

then i looked at it some more and thought 'maybe it wont be so bad':
they seem to have addressed some of the issues people complain about in the modern 700s (although i wish theyd have redesigned the safety) such as higher quality barrels, Timney trigger, Sako style extractor, etc.

but then i looked at the range results: over 2" groups? they made such a big deal about the tight tolerances and quality of the T/C barrels, and thats the best they can do? a $300 Stevens will group better than that out of the box with its stock trigger.

i dont see these selling for anything less than $699 in Canada. for that much money i would rather go to either a Stevens, Savage or a Remington 700 SPS and drop in some aftermarket components. thats another thing - there will be nowhere near the stocks and aftermarket accessories available for this rifle.
