I have had this gen one S&W rifle since they became available in Canada. I thought I would have some fun and upgrade it.
This rifle is modeled after an internally suppressed style SBR rifle you'd find south of the boarder.
The upgrades:
1. I found a cheap but nice mlok rail from Magdump.ca, this one is the 10".
2. I had a local gunsmith remanufacture the barrel to 11". Note, there are legalities about cutting barrels so consult a professional and use the proper legal methods.
3. Installed a fake can, down the barrel to make it look like a 6" Barrel with internal suppressor.
4.installed a RRA single stage trigger I got from Questar, it's a solid trigger upgrade under 80$.
5. To remove the old handguard you need a tool and new barrel nut. I picked this up at tacticool22, out of the USA. I also had to shave a few notches on the receiver to allow the rail to have proper timing (other wise left with a 8mm gap).
6. Added an MFT stock.
7. The optic is a Holosun 510C, much cheaper than an Eotech and the reticle is clearer in a side by side.
I took this out to the range last weekend and tested accuracy. At 10 yards its dime size and at 25 its smaller than a loonie but I think that's my inability to see that far, more than anything. So an 11" Barrel is still accurate.
If anyone is doing similar stuff and needs advice, shoot me a pm or drop a comment.
