Ok maybe a little insight from people with experience. I am shopping for my first Pistol, I have 3 friends with the Cz shadow but i really like the feel of the M&P. Of course I keep getting told Cz Cz! just looking for some uunbiased opinions. Are these two comparable? whats your good or bad experience?

If you prefer the feel of one over the other.....that is probably the one you should be shooting.

I shoot a CZ Shadow and absolutely LOVE it! The "top" IPSC production guys shoot one. However the production guy who won worlds shot a glock and they guy who took 1st at the last IPSC match I shot was using an M&P. The shooter makes the gun look good, not the other way around.

It comes down to what you perfer and what feels right and what you shoot the best. Get either, or both! Shoot them both 1st if you can. At least a few hundred rounds out of each. That should give you a better idea of what suites you the best.

But you can't go wrong with a shadow!

ive tried both an m&p9 and a CZ-75. I dont remember if it was the SP-01 shadow specificly. The CZ felt a little more solid, but the M&P9 fit my hand better. I liked the DAO trigger on the M&P9 also, compared to the SA/DA on the CZ i tried. I would play with either of them first in the store and decide on which better suits you and your needs. They will both shoot well.
If youre looking at M&P9s you could benefit from taking a look at the other DAO such as glocks. Additionally check out other SA/DA sig/h&k/browning HPs if they are within your price range. But I'm not saying get those instead.

Go with your gut, because if you get something you didn't like to begin with, you will always wonder about what could have been. But since it's your first one, it probably wont be your last.

I have a M&P.45 and .40 (had the 9mm) and have the CZ 75B 9mm. The CZ is very easy to shoot single action and accurate. Feels great in the hand. It is heavier so recoil is less which adds to the accuracy. All that being said I love my M&P's fun to shoot trigger is the same on every pull, light weight nice fit in the hand. If I had to give up one for the other I would be keepig the M&P. Fortunately I don't have to.

Sounds like you already had your mind made up and are just fishing for some support, nothing wrong with that. Both pistols are good for certain reasons. I guess it depends what you put the most value on. If it's your first pistol, it certainly won't be the last. What's the worst that could happen? Maybe you flip it on EE and get the other or something else. The shadow is the higher priced gun and it's purpose is competition. The M&P is a duty/combat gun. I would be able shoot tighter groups with the shadow but maybe it would be fun to try outshoot your buddies with a tupperware duty gun? You can't really go wrong here.

I owned both and I sold the M&P. I like my SP-01 Shadow much better for a few reasons. First I will say, the M&P was a reliable, well built, and comfortable gun but, first, it wasnt overly accurate compared to the Shadow, two, it has a terrible trigger compared to the Shadow(and yes I knew about the Apex kit but, we are talking stock guns here), three, I had a problem with my thumb position not allowing the slide to lock back on the last round which I have never had on any other handgun, and four, the mags would not go in the gun with 10 rounds in them and the slide closed(a major problem for competative shooting which I do). My Shadow on the other hand has been flawless. The only problem I have ever had with it is the rear sight came loose. It is easy to see why the Shadow is so popular. Like someone else said here though, you are comparing apples to oranges. SA striker fired polymer frame vs SA/DA hammer fired all steel. They were built for a different purpose and are in a different price range. The Shadow is $150-200 more.

Ya, totally apples to oranges... a rugged, simple, reliable purpose-designed duty pistol intended to be carried for hours and hours VS a former duty pistol that was then bred and adapted into a competition machine.

You should buy what feels best to you and if you like both equally, get an M&P :D

You might also want to try the P-07 Duty. It fits the hand pretty well. There's always Glock too.

I had both. The M&P was 10x more reliable and don't need any modification to work properly out of the box. My only problem with the Smith is the front sight was shifting from time to time. I have to admit that the CZ have a much better trigger pull but the mags are total junk. Yuk.

I have M&P9 and a 75B. Took the 75 to the range today after a long Glock spell and man, CZ is one sweet shooting gun! I like it better than M&P, but keep in mind my 75B is stainless = one ###y beast ;)

I also had a CZ 75 P-07 duty; best of both worlds. Compact, accurate, reliable, ergonomic and has a good trigger.

Great input guys, it sounds like either gun would be a good choice. I am just trying to weed out the brand bashing done by both of the competing gun stores. As far as the guns use goes, its just going to be a range toy, no competition use in the near future.

I've got both. Both are excellent pistols.

Either way, it likely won't matter... I don't know very many handgun owners who only have 1 pistol... You'll probably end up with both!
