Hi all,

I just received my RPAL upgrade and am starting my search for an AR platform.

I am going to look at one of these on the w/e and looking for comments from those who own one already.

My initial concern from internet shopping is the handrail. It looks like it has the pickatini rails on all 4 quadrants ..... seems like it would be uncomfortable to handle.

Buying an aftermarket rail for a “new” rifle doesn’t make much sense ..... i’d Probably just factor in the cost and up sell myself on a slightly more expensive rifle.

Thoughts?

Mike

I modded mine a ton , no ragrets ! I had the quad rail on it initially , didn’t bother me . Now I have a free float rail . The rifle is much better than I am so ...

I bought the regular 15 and added some Magpul for about 120 bucks. Stock, grip, forend. It's fine now. You could run it without my upgrades, fully stock, and have a rifle that's better than most shooters.

You can put rail covers on the unused parts of your rail. Cheap solution.

I run a full MI pic rail with no covers on one of my ARs. You get used to the sharp edges after a while.

The problem with the pic rail isn’t really the sharp edges as far as I’m concerned, it’s the bulk and the added weight over Keymod and M-Lok.

Another option is to buy the cheaper non-T version for around $600 and spend the difference on your upgrades.

I'd say you likely won't see the benefit of the free float barrel with 5R rifling, cheese grater handguards are yesterdays news. Save the coin and buy a Sport II add some furniture upgrades and call her done for less money.
