Can anyone tell me if the barrels of the S&W M&P40 and M&P357 sig are interchangeable and by this I mean the stock S&W barrels. I have the M&P40 and the magazine and bolt face are a match for the 357 sig, now if the Outside Diameter of the two barrels is the same I should be able to just swap the barrels to shot the other caliber. Well maybe change the spring as well, I'll have to look into that.

Thanks for your input.

The silence is deafening.

Wow, easy now everybody, don't all try to speak at the same time, just wait your turn ok.

Such an over whelming response. The answer I got from "Smith and Wesson" and I'm surprised they responded at all, is "YES" their 357 SIG barrel can be dropped right into the M&P 40, nothing else needed (ie: different spring) and these barrels can be purchased from S&W for a grand total of $92 US, of course. Not bad, a second gun for $92, I likey very much.:D

Yes, S&W is correct, all you need is the barrel.
357SIG is a very "snappy" caliber. Bit of a pain to reload. Expensive to buy factory loads. But if you are into heavy recoil...

I'd like to know about the Canadian availability of 9mm switch barrels for the 40.

A guy I shoot IDPA with ordered a 9mm and a 40 S&W for his 357 M&P directly from storm lake. They came in just under $400.00, it took 6 weeks for them to arrive. The mags work with the 40, but he's going to order some 9mm mags.
