Before you start working on the crane, check to see that the locking latch is moving correctly gander, and that the ejection rod hasn't unscrewed itself enough to inhibit the cylinder closing all the way.
Open up the clinder and pull push the cylinder latch ahead and see if it it springs all the way back when you release it. Look inside the recoil shield and see if it will move once released if you pull it back, if so, it needs a good cleaning or a new spring.
If you've been doing hollywood reloads (flicking the cylinder open and closed) you may have bent the crane, and you'll need to get it straightened. Find a smith unless your good with your hands and have a delicate touch. Nylon wedges and a rawhide hammer will work if your carefull and go a very little bit at a time and check often, but be careful, and figure out which way you need to move it before you start. If it's not obvious, take it to a smith.
