I have a S&W mod.10-5 .38 special snub nose. Is the gun a rare configuration?
I can find values on a lot of dif. barrel lengths but not this one.
Any input would be appreciated.

Thx,
Don

I really really dont know much about revolvers, but snub nose yo me sound less then the legal minimum lenght of 4.2 inch?

The 2 inch Model 10s were not as common as the 4 and 5 inch but I would not say they were rare. Agreed that 12(6) kills its value; I would buy that in a heartbeat if I had it on my PAL. I wouldn't let it go for less than $250 in 80%, $300 for a 90%, $400 for mint shape. Box, papers, and tool? Five bills easy to the right collector (which, again, would be me if I were eligible).

.. The Model 10, Round Butt, 2" barrel, was pretty much, the standard plainclothes issue Revolver for many Canadian Police Forces. Until, superseded by the Semi Autos of course. So really not all that rare. ...... Using a decent set of grips, and even with the stock set and "filler' it's surprising just how accurate these revolvers can be considering the short sight radius. ....... David K ;)

It's worth more to you as a shooter than it is for you to sell to a collector.

Just shoot it.

Shooting from the Creedmore position, the 2" Model 10 is a sweet gun at 100 yards.

I agree, given the current 12(6) status of these old gems it has more 'value' as a shooter to the current owner that it would to a 'collector'.

I shot thousands of rounds thru Model 10's both in 4" and 2" back in the day. In the hands of the right person don't put up Grandma's heirloom china out at 100 yards and hope it remains intact.

NAA.

Mine cost $225 shipped, about a year ago from the EE. Someone had driven nails with the butt, a few spots of blue wear, otherwise the old girl is OK. What a shooter though! There's nothing quite like a K frame Smith. Outshoots the same thing from Colt (Detective Special) every time, though the Colt is a bit lighter. With Hogue Bantam grips, a surprisingly accurate and comfortable revolver.

12(6) is so stupid.

Does anybody want to organize a donation campaign to the PCs, I'd give $126 now, and $126 when section 12(6) is repealed and handguns are all once again handguns. Every lawful RPAL holder should be able to enjoy one of these...
