S+W Mod 48

There may be an opportunity for me to purchase a Model 48 . I believe it has the pinned barrel . Not sure if it a four screw or not but it is an early model from the pics and in very good shape. Any ideas as to value ?

In my experience people think they are worth all kinds of money but my option is somewhat different.

I would say $500.00 and up from there depending on model and condition.

The cost of the ammo makes them a novelty at best.

There was a nice looking one on the EE that started close to 1K and went through several price reductions over the weeks. I don't remember what the ask was when it was finally marked "sold" but I think maybe $650? (of course no idea what the accepted offer might have been). FWIW the seller had several classic S&W's on the listing and AFAIR the model 48 was the last to sell.

I thought about it pretty hard but the ammo issues led me to pass.
