Hey All,

Wondering if I can change over the grips on my 17 to my 19?

Both are K frames, correct?

Can it be done?

What is the proper name of the grip style on the 17 pictured below? I'll be looking for a second set.

Yes, both are K frame so the grips should swap, as long as each revolver has the same grip profile [ie. square butt vs round butt].

I don't beleive the grips that you show are the ones for the Model 19. I think those ones only came on the model 17's and the model 14 target guns. I think the ones that came on the Model 19 are like the ones in this picture.

I believe you are correct. I have a set like those for both my 19 and 29. I'm looking to put a set of 17 grips on my 19.

Models 14 and 17 came from the factory with either Magna or Target (the larger type) grips. While square butt Model 19s normally came from the factory with the Target grips, I'm sure that some shipped with Magnas. I would be cautious in using the word "never" when it comes to S&W revolvers.
