S-W Model 41 22 caliber semi -auto
I would like to know if anyone could help us with our little problem with the 41.We just had a little match at our club and 4 of us seem to have the same problem with the 41. The casing does not eject out of the chamber it sort of jams in there . We tried all types of ammo.I've personnally changed the extractor and the ejector and the springs. The only thing that helps a little bit is that if we spray a little wd-40 in the chamber before loading. The guns are nice and clean prior to the shoot. It seemed like the s-w model 41 has a problem with the ejecting .We would like any kind of help to solve this problem. Its giving us a lot of allobuys during the match. Please help
Thanks A Million Denis.

It is an extraction problem if it does not come out of the chamber, it is an ejection problem if it comes out of the chamber and does not clear the action.

Will it pull a live round out of the chamber when you pull the slide open?

Will it pull a fired round out of the chamber when you pull the slide open?

If it fails the top above tests, the extractor itself may need to be "sharper" and fit better.

It might be worth polishing the chamber with some jewelers rouge. I have a match 22lr that needed just a little bit of polishing. The other option is you can have a smith use a match 22lr reamer on it.

I'd try the jewelers rouge or another fine polishing compound.

Do not spray anything in the chamber. It can cause pressure issues. Even with a .22.
Have a look in the chamber for rust and/or pitting. Mind you, 41's are extremely particular about what ammo they'll both shoot well and cycle the action. The cost of said ammo means nothing either. Mine is reliable with Remington Target and IVI Standard velocity and nothing else. I'd be trying more brands of ammo.

One of the fellows here has the same trouble
with his, changed everything and did not help,
He shoots a bit limp , 1/2 the trouble and
he found that if he pusted up on the mag base
it helped, changed the mag lock, still a problem sometimes.
2 different smiths looked at it and seems to always work
fine for them, every mag or two the cleans the chamber.
This may not be much help to you.
If I shoot his 41 rapid fire , it works 100%

I had problems with my 41 when I first purchased it used.

I could not get through a string of 5 rounds without a failure to eject.

Eventually I found that match grade ammo (about $15 a box) worked fine. Then I found Remington target ammo worked great. I bought 10 bricks of the stuff when it went on sale at LeBarons (if I remember correctly) and I've never looked back.

Avoid any hunting / Canadian Tire type ammo and try some standard velocity target or even match ammo.

Your mileage may vary but careful selection of ammo took care of my problem with no gunsmith effort required.

Cheers,
