I have been looking at a new handgun a s/s S&W model 60 revolver which has a round butt grip frame, 5 shot cylinder and a 5" barrel.

It is extremely small considering that it is a 357mag revolver.

Does anyone have any experience with this gun.

Thanks for any info.

Since you'r licenced for remote carry, that should be a little swettie compared to your other hand cannons.

I always bemoan that I'm not a 12.6; I'd sure like a S&W 696, a SS 3" 5 shot L framed .44 spl.

I've owned several J frame revolvers, but never a .357. As they were just beginning to introduce the magnum into that frame when C-68 was coming out, I don't know how many would be in Canada. If this new 5 inch is a catalog item, there is no reason it couldn't be imported.

J frames tend to have a slightly harsher trigger pull than a comparable K frame, only due to the coil vs leaf spring, and it's shorter travel. Nothing a decent spring kit and polish can't tame.

If you are concidering this for a wilderness carry gun, and weight and bulk are a problem, it might be a good option.

I suspect that for wilderness carry, you won't be too poorly served by one, but I would prefer a heavier frame, and preferably a heavier caliber.

My remote area handguns are 10mm's then I jump up to a 6" 44mag, 5.5" 45 Colt's and last but not least a 7.5" 454 Casull.

There are times that a small revolver would be perfect for what I do.

This gun would be mostly for my son and wife to shoot at the range though.

It is very compact for the cartridge.

I am dealing on one right now. They've come down $55.00 already but I'm hoping to get them down another $50.00. They have till 4:15pm today to get back to me with a better price..... ;)

I'm in the process of buying a 357 K-frame right now for the same reason, for when I don;t really need to pack the 44.

The 60 you are looking at would be ideal, except that you may have a hard time finding a holster for a 5" J-frame. Cut down to 106mm it would be great, if a little pricey

Good point on the holster I didn't even think that there may be difficulties in find one.

I didn't get a call back so have lots of time to search the net for holsters that are available.

Thanks that is exactly what I was looking for and the reason that I want this little beauty.

I was talking to Mernickle's today about some holsters that I ordered from Bob late last month for my Colt Delta Elite. They will be ready next Wednesday, I had better buy this gun and get Bob to add a holster in my shipment.

I took my wife down to the gun shop with me today to look at this little beauty again.

Big mistake taking the wife. She looked at the price then looked back at me and said, "We could get a very nice leather chair for the living room for the cost of that gun".

I realized my mistake instantly and left the store without saying another word.

Took her to dinner at the Spagetti Factory on the way home. I will never take my wife shopping with me for a gun again...... :D I just bought her new carpet for the living/dining room this week so thought that I would get away with buying the gun with her there with me.:D

:D "NOT" :D

Mernickle wants about $80.00 US funds for this holster.

To bad for us that he moved out of Mission, BC 2 years ago.

they are nice, but for the same money they want for it, I bought my M17 (22LR) and M19 (357) used off of here, and still have enough money for a case of 22 LR or 1k of 38 spl.

I'll bob the M19 to 106mm and cut the grip frame to round butt, and it won;t be a whole lot bigger than the 60, or more to the point it will be a lot smaller than my M29.

Just something to consider.

I just took the money that I was going to spend on the m60 and bought my wife carpet for the stairs and upper landing in my house.

Now she's really happy and when I buy the m60 I'm not going to tell her about it. :D
