S&W sigma

sigmas are discontinued? I could be wrong but I don't think it's true

newer sigmas have 4in barrel therefore prohibs, IIRC older once have 4.5in

I know earlier sigmas had problems, newer once (prohibs) seem to get OK/good reviews on US gun forums.

Well from what I read on the S&W forum, the Sigma series is S&W's biggest seller. They might be low cost, but from what I have read the enhanced series is a very reliable weapon. The US Army has purchased approx 70 000 for Afghan military aid.

The US military has also paid czechoslovakia to dump many thousands of VZ58's on the Afghani police forces. That does NOT make the VZ58 the most modern and effective choice for that role.

The Sigmas are inexpensive and a HUGE improvement over the odd assortment of WW1 era brit revolvers and worn out surplus russian Tokarevs they had before ;)

Can anyone tell me why Sigmas were discontinued and sell for so little on the used market? What is wrong with them?

Just look at & handle one. It's a self answering question...:p

I have one. Its "ok".
My only complaint is the huge amount of curl on the trigger in relation to the grip a normal size hand gets on it. Other than that, its very, very boring. I think thats why it never became very popular outside the law enforcement world. Other than that, its a great plinker in my opinion.

I am actually pretty impressed by the feel of a Sigma - I wish my Glock was as ergonomic. Glock is still my kind of the the tupperware hill but for the money, I think a Sigma is a good buy. I am eagerly anticipating getting my hands on a new S&W M&P...

Hmm... makes me think of another black polymer pistol that starts with a G...

Sadly, no other products got the Bruce Willis "costs more than you make in a month and defeats airport radar" seal of approval...

My Sigma's very good, never jammed & I've fired over 10000 rnds. It's the SW40E version. Accurecy could be better, I'll be trying out MMC adjustable rear sights in the near futur. I've lightened the trigger pull by 2lbs by removing the bottom spring on the hammer/sear assembly.

Pound 25,000 rounds thru your Glock & tell me what you think about 'ergonomics'... lol... Personally, I wouldn't waste my $$ on a polymer S&W pistol. Stainless steel S&W, now that's a different animal...
