Hi Everyone ,just received a swedish m96 ,it looks rather dark with what looks like a new stock set with a cheery stain. The other unusual thing about this rifle is that it is SA marked on the receiver, which indicates that it was one of the 77000 rifles on loan to Finland during the winter war against the Russians in 1939.
Was wondering if anyone else has purchased or seen one of these and how common they are inCanada

I have seen a few, not that uncommon, here is one I used to own -

Some were refinished if they needed it. The ones in worse shape were stripped for parts in most cases. Many of these were not used by the Finns and were kept in storage, while a lot of the issued ones were to secondary troops, guards on installations, air defence posts and such. Mainly issued to the units in the western part of Finland where there was a common border with the Swedes.

In the later Continuation War, Germany arranged to have 7.35mm Italian Carcaos shipped to the Finns, along with things like ME-109 fighters, etc. The Carcaos have SA markings and were issued to secondary troops. After WWII, Interarmco bought a lot of the Carcanos and had them "sporterized" while partly paying for them with surplus Sten guns.
