Looks like it's based heavily from the M203 design.

IIRC the big problem with getting a made in Canada M203 was that no one knew where to get the rifled barrel tubes. I wonder if the Czech's would export tubes?

There was an example of this is the second season of Strike Back. In addition the CZ 858 is used quite a bit in the latter portion of the season.
