I am looking at getting a 1911 and I have it narrowed down to these two. The Springfield Armory PX9109L and the Kimber Custom II. Its not for any special purpose just for target shooting. There are a few extra options on the Springfield ( which I dont really need, but are nice) the prices are pretty comparable. Is kimber better quality?

Thanks

The only thing I wasn't quite happy with on my Kimber TLEII was the finish. If I handled the gun and put it away without wiping it down, 2 days later it would have surface rust on any area I touched. Hammer, trigger, frame, slide, you name it...

Im not sure how they finish it but I didn't like it. My Springfield XD9 slide is totally opposite... I can fondle it all I want and it never shows any signs of rust or corrosion.

I know the Springfield you're looking at is parkerized and I dont know how it behaves when being touched and left alone... maybe someone here can shed some light on it.

i think you should listen to your favorite shooting buddy and co-worker and get yourself a NORINCO!!!;) :D
