During a family dinner over the holidays, a family member mentioned that Remington used to sell a cartridge called the Accelerator which is a .22 caliber bullet in a sabot on 30-06 brass. Here is a link

I have been doing some research and it seems that www.eabco.com sells the sabot and die for the handloaders.

Has anyone ever tryed a saboted cartridge in an SKS? Did it feed properly and how was the accuracy at 3,500 fps?

I'd like to try them, where can we find these in Canada?

SKSs are about 2-3" at 100 yards, and I think the rifling twist is all wrong for a .22cal bullet so it probably won't be too accurate. Should be good fun though.

I used to work with a guy who loaded some .30-06 .223 cal sabots. I think he also did some .30-30s as well. He said they shot VERY high, like aiming a couple feet low at shorter ranges. Like it says, firing them through a muzzle device is a bad idea, it would be worth a try though
