Wondering what the 25-50 yd accuracy is like for these. Was thinking of them as a bear defence round for my 14" barreled 870 camp gun. Have more faith in the premium copper sabots than any soft lead slug, if they can hit the target.

They won't stabilize and will be tumbling. This will seriously affect both their accuracy and penetration.

I believe there are rifled choke tube available. They might resolve this, although I have no personal experience.

or you could just use riflied slugs. Your not talking about shooting past 100 yards in your original post. I can shoot riflied slugs in a 2" circle at a 100yds all day long. So for your scenerio, riflied slugs would work fine.

I managed to fluke into a box of Brenneke's today, so I'm happy.

I would much rather shoot a grizz with a solid copper 435gr slug at a good velocity than any lead one however.

They are OLD, marked as magnums. I would guess they are 10+ years old.

Damnit... I went and grabbed them to take a closer look. They are 16 gauge...

God gun store employees can be stupid.

Of course, I should have clued in on this one when he tried to sell me the barnes sabots that have big writing on them "Rifled barrels only" for my smoothbore, and then said that didn't matter.

I was able to hit gophers pretty consistently with Winchester 1oz Slugs out of the HP9 at 50ish yards. Im sure you could hit a bear :)
